In the Beginning
I started acting in musical theatre
when I was in high school in a local theatre company created for teens.
It was a fantastic experience
where I learned singing, dancing, acting, and
working backstage building sets, painting, and assembling costumes and
props. That was where I fell in love with performing. I also loved
reading and writing short stories that
my friends liked to read. My least favorite subjects were any that
involved numbers like math and chemistry. My theatre training led
enabled me to have a career acting, directing, and writing plays for
children that have been produced by schools and art camps throughout New
Jersey. Whenever I have time, I return to the stage to enjoy
acting before a live audience - kind of like teaching!
Education
My degrees include an Associates Degree
in English, a Bachelors Degree in English and Secondary Education and a
Master Degree in Speech and Theatre, I continue to take courses because,
believe it or not, I actually like to study! Last year I was
awarded a scholarship to study Shakespeare at his birthplace in
Stratford-upon-Avon in England. There were eighteen recipients
from different countries from all over the world. I was excited to
be the American delegate. This is my twenty-first year teaching at
Holmdel High School and I still love working with young people. I
believe that if you are willing to try, together we can accomplish great
things.
Family
I am the proud mother of three adult
children and grandmother of two little boys. In my spare time I
love to spend time reading, traveling, watching HGTV, cooking and
enjoying family get-togethers. My wonderful husband is also an
actor and an ex-teacher who always makes me smile. My life is
truly magical.
