Directions for a Process

A process is a series of steps that, when completed, result in a finished product or completed event.

It is very important that the directions for a process be written in clearly, easy-to-follow language.  These directions are usually written out step-by-step, and the steps are usually numbered.  It can be extremely useful to have illustrations to go with each step.

Writing clear and concise directions for a process can be very difficult.  As an example, try writing down the directions for how to tie your shoe, then give them to someone else to follow and walk away for a few minutes.  When you come back, see if they ended up with a correctly tied shoe.

Directions for a process can be very specialized, and can include recipes, sections of an owner's manual, driving directions, "How To" books, and other useful items.
