Research & Sources:

re-search - "To find again" - What you're doing when you research a topic is finding what other people already figured out or said about the topic; you're "finding it again."

Research involves using information or ideas that are not yours, with the intent to share that information with others.

When you are researching a topic, you need to look at a lot of different sources and take notes on what you find.  That is, you should not be copying other people's words exactly, but rather paraphrasing (writing in your own words) the main points and ideas.

Whenever you use someone else's words or ideas, you HAVE TO give them credit!  That means, at the least, creating a bibliography, or a "Works Cited" page.  We are going to use the MLA format for citation and bibliographies.  Click here to see some resources that might be helpful to your research.

When you are doing research, there are three categories (and several different types) of Sources.

No matter what kind of source you use, you need to make sure your information is RELIABLE!

When you have finished your research, be sure to make a Works Cited page that lists important information about your sources!
