Transitions and Quotations
Any time you include a quotation or paraphrase in your writing, you should introduce it with a short transitional phrase or dependent clause. You can also transition out of a quotation.
Your transitions can include the citation for the quotation; just remember that the type of source you use affects the information you need to include in your citation.
Examples:
This can be clearly seen on page 4, where the author writes, "Quotation from story" (Author last name).
When the narrator says, "Quotation from story," it is easy to see that clear explanation of quotation (Author last name page #).
In the third paragraph, the author states, "Quotation" (Author last name "Web Page Title").
