Language Arts: An Extended Metaphor

Language Arts is food for the mind.  There are many different ingredients that can be combined in a number of ways to make all sorts of creations.  Some of the combinations result in nutritious items that can help you grow stronger, while others are simply confections, fun to take in but containing no real sustenance.

The more you learn about Language Arts, the more ingredients you are adding to your cupboard.  If you have more ingredients, you can create a wider range of snacks and meals more easily.

If all you have in your cupboard is flour, water, and salt, you can make a few different foods (some very plain bread, maybe some pretzels), and you might be able to survive with such "food," but you will yearn for something different sooner or later.
