NJASK: Scoring

NJASK is designed to reflect whether or not students have achieved the basic minimum requirements the state has set for students at specific grade levels.

Scores for each subject area on the test are summarized with one of three scores:

Not Proficient -

Students who scored "Not Proficient" did not demonstrate to the state a mastery of the minimum skills and knowledge the state feels a student at that grade level should have attained by this point in his or her education.  This is a non-passing score.

Proficient -

Students who scored "Proficient" demonstrated to the state a mastery of the minimum skills and knowledge the state feels a student at that grade level should have attained by this point in his or her education.  This is a passing score.

Advanced Proficient -

Students who scored "Advanced Proficient" demonstrated to the state a mastery of skills and knowledge beyond that which the state feels a student at that grade level should have attained by this point in his or her education.  This is above a passing score.
