Reflective Writing
Most writing asks you to focus on a topic other than yourself and to address that topic without referring to yourself. Reflective writing is very different.
Reflective writing is about both the author and the topic. It asks you to make connections between yourself and some other topic by writing about similarities.
In essence, it is writing in which the author thinks about (reflects on) his/her connections to a specific event or topic
Unusual and unpredictable connections between the author and the topic make better reflective pieces. That is, the more thoughtful and interesting your connections are, while still remaining logical and true, the better your reflective writing will be.
If you are writing reflectively about a character, be sure to focus each paragraph on one specific connection; focusing on personality traits is better than focusing on physical characteristics or group affiliations.
Include clear and specific and clear details about the character's life that show the trait you have chosen, as well as specific and clear details about your own life that also show the chosen trait.
