Course Placement Timeline and Department Review Information

Parents and students may view the grade level or honors level courses that are recommended for their child for the 2018-2019 school year through the Power School student management system on April 16 for rising 9-12 graders and on May 1 for rising 6-8 graders. Please note that only courses in which there is more than one level will be viewable for rising grades 6-8 students.

Students desiring enrollment in an Honors or Advanced Placement course are required to meet the published criteria in order to be eligible for inclusion in that program. Department Review Committees, comprised of administrators, counselors and teachers, will review placements to consider extenuating circumstances, new information and student requests for honors or advanced placement courses that are brought to their attention through the Course Placement Department Review Form found here.

Please complete the form to have the department review the placement recommendation for a student for the 2018-19 school year between the dates listed below. Please complete a separate form for each course you request to have reviewed.

Course Placement Timeline for Rising Grades 9-12:

April 16: Parents and students may view recommended course placements through PowerSchool by accessing the site here from any computer. Currently, the app for the smartphones does not have this feature.

April 16-22: Parents may complete the Course Placement Department Review Form during this window of time.

Course Placement Timeline for Rising Grades 6-8:

May 1: Parents and students may view recommended course placements through PowerSchool by accessing the site here from any computer. (Rising Grades 7&8 may view LAL and Math. Rising Grade 6 may view Math only.)

May 1-10: Parents may complete the Course Placement Department Review Form during this window of time.

Please complete a separate form for each course you request to have reviewed.

Directions to View Your Child's Recommended Courses for 2018-2019

To view your child's courses for next year, parents should log on to Power School through the district's website, www.holmdelschools.org. If using a mobile device, go to the web browser on your mobile phone and log into the parent portal. It will not work through the mobile app because the app is very limited in what may be viewed.

Attached is a quick reference sheet showing how to use the navigation bar on the left hand side so that parents may view class registration, report cards, transportation, etc. Directions for opening portal on mobile app.pdf

If you continue to have difficulty accessing your child's list of courses, please contact the Guidance Office at your child's school.
