At the March 18th Committee of the Whole public meeting, the administration will present the 2026-27 not-to-exceed budget to the Board of Education for approval.

To keep the community informed, the district will continue sharing updates, video clips, and resources that provide context on our district’s financial situation and budget decisions.

Upcoming Board of Education meetings will include public discussions on topics such as negotiations (as allowed under confidentiality rules), the budget, and the district’s ongoing review of potential outsourcing of custodial services.

We strongly encourage community members to attend these meetings in person or via live stream and to carefully review the enclosed information/resources. As always, thank you for your continued engagement.
 

Financial Overview: January 21st Committee of the Whole

This presentation, delivered at the January 21 Committee of the Whole meeting by the district’s Business Administrator, Mrs. Deborah Donnelly, provides information related to key considerations in the development of this year’s budget, including budgetary shortfalls. At approximately the 1 hour and 35 minute mark, the discussion transitions to a presentation and conversation regarding the drivers behind the decision to explore the outsourcing of custodial services, including projected savings and other relevant considerations.

I. This presentation is from February 26, 2025, and provides information and a range of data points that speak to the district’s history of sound financial management. Examples of the metrics shared include teacher and administrator salaries as compared to the county average, historical data related to collective bargaining agreement settlements with the local education association, and administrative expenses.



II. This presentation is of last year’s “not-to-exceed” budget offers helpful insight not only into the budgeting process, but also into existing financial challenges, along with a clear and explicit foreshadowing of future economic difficulties.

This video (1:31-1:46) is from the December 10, 2025, Committee of the Whole meeting, which features a monologue by the superintendent in which he details the historical, legislative, and financial factors that have contributed to the present economic difficulties—sometimes referred to as the “fiscal cliff”, followed by a Q&A with the board.
