Please be advised that the start of a school year is extremely busy for the Transportation Department. Email is the most direct mode of communication and will ensure receipt by the whole office, please do not leave voicemail messages. If you feel a need to reach our office, please email transportation@holmdelschools.org

Be sure to log into the PowerSchool parent portal as late as September 3 to view bus assignments. Please note that route direction and bus stop locations have changed in response to the new start and end times at all four buildings. Drivers and contractors may have changed as well.

The pick up and drop off times posted in the PowerSchool parent portal are approximate. Students should report to their assigned stop 10 minutes before and be prepared to wait 10 minutes after the time listed. The drop off times will also fluctuate within that 10 minute window as the buses are not released in the afternoon until ALL students are accounted for. Please keep in mind that Indian Hill dismisses at 3:10 but may not leave the school until 3:20 and Village dismisses at 3:40 but may not leave the school until 3:50 or later depending on the time required to load all 25 buses.

Students must report to their assigned stop regardless of any prior agreements made with drivers. Please do not ask the driver to pick up/drop off in front of your house or change the route in any way. Even if the bus passes your house, the added time is compounded as the bus moves through each school causing delays and negatively affecting other families that are complying.

Drivers are never authorized to change a route that was submitted by our District and agreed to by the contractor. Doing so will generate a $500 fine for each instance to be billed to the contractor. We frequently spot check all routes throughout the school year and will report driver infractions to the contractors. Any route changes will be communicated through the Transportation Department.

Village School students must have a parent or guardian waiting at the bus stop in the afternoon. If there is no one at the stop authorized to receive your child, they will be brought back to Village School and dropped off in Prime Time after the run is finished.

This is extremely inconvenient for the driver, as well as, the contractor and comes at a cost to our District and may result in temporary suspension from the bus. Please email transportation@holmdelschools.org if you have a list of individuals that are authorized to pick up your child at the bus stop. We will forward those names to the bus contractor and they will alert the driver. The driver will not release your child without this authorization and they will be brought back to the school after the run is finished.

Riding a school bus is a privilege. If a student does not follow the rules, they could lose his/her riding privileges for a period of time or the entire school year.

Please email transportation@holmdelschools.org if your child will NOT be riding the bus this year. This information is extremely helpful as we continue to support our goal of efficiency across all schools, all routes. This only applies to student drivers or those driven to school every day.
